.eu namespace for Europe

eu Bannner

The .eu namespace for Europe, has launched and is currently taking Sunrise applications.

This your chance to secure a highly sought after .eu domain name.

The Sunrise period, during which only the holders of certain "prior rights" are allowed to register their names, has now begun.

The Phase 1 release of .eu on 7 December, which was focused on owners of registered trademarks and public bodies, attracted over 100,000 applications according to EURid, the .eu domain name registry.

We now turn our attention to Phase 2 of the release of the .eu space. This is the phase where public bodies and trademark owners may still apply (with the exception of trademarks under licensee arrangements) but a wider range of eligibility types or other 'prior rights' are invited to apply. Phase 2 will also allow applications from holders of "Prior Rights" that are protected under the national law of the member state in which they are held, such as unregistered trademarks, trade names, business identifiers, company names, family names, and distinctive titles of protected literary and artistic works.

Phase 2 will operate in the same way as Phase 1, that is, on a first-come-first-served principle. The first application in the queue to have its documentary evidence validated as being correct will be given the right to register the .eu domain name after a period for challenges has lapsed.

Please contact us to receive our .eu Information Pack.

This information is intended to provide a brief summary of the key processes, policies and terms and conditions of Phase 2.

To be part of Phase 2 please ensure you:

  1. Read ALL of the information pack and AGREE to the terms and conditions set out in that document
  2. Submit an application by sending an email request to us at domains@make-tracks.com.au or ringing on +61 2 4579 0594. We will assist with the application process

Once Make-Tracks receives your application details we will commence processing your application for submission to the registry.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • We will receive your applications after 1 February 2006 but cannot guarantee that they will be submitted on the opening date, however, we will submit them as soon as practicable after this time.
  • Note: Applicants are advised to begin preparing their documentary evidence as soon as they apply to maximise the time available before the submission deadline (which is 40 days after application date.)
  • Make-Tracks will not be providing the submission of documentary evidence as part of this service/program.

Make-Tracks can help clarify any aspects relating to this process that you may require.
